The New Look For Solid Wood Spiral Stairs
Salter’s commitment to quality is evident in the details and craftsmanship of our solid wood spiral stairs. With a full architectural wood working facility in-house, we have the versatility to produce stairs in a variety of wood species including oak, maple, cherry, and mahogany with additional species available upon request. This is part of our commitment to making sure we provide the best possible spiral stair in the industry.
The significance of Salter’s solid wood stair design is our unique tread attachment to a 5″ round, solid wood center column. With hardened steel fasteners that are imbedded into each wood tread, we have created a solid connection to the center column. Another substantial design characteristic is that each primary baluster is connected to two treads, providing additional strength. We achieve this by recessing the baluster into the corners of the tread, which creates a smooth fit. The outside edge of the tread is enclosed preventing the tread from cupping, which stiffens the connection and provides graceful curves.
