Thai Furniture Industries

The Thai Furniture Industries Association was established on March 17,1980 and was founded by a group of businessmen producing furniture from hardwood, parawood, rattan, leather, metal, alloy, particleboard, MDF board and plywood, and producers of furniture accessories, furniture distributors, and paint and glue manufactures.
TFA members include furniture makers selling to both the domestic and export markets. Annual export figures for furniture continue to rise and during the years 1987 - 1997, furniture exports enjoyed impressive growth. By 1998, 25,973.20 million baht of furniture was exported, in 1998 this figure rose to 30,144.90 million baht, in 2000 exports are expected to reach 35,000 million baht and in 2001 predictions are for 40,000 million baht.
In accordance with the articies of association, TFA has conscientiously conducted its affairs for the betterment of its members. This is apparent from the monthly bulletin distributed by TFA outlining its activities.
In its general annual meeting, a committee not exceeding 18 director was selected form among the members. Mr.Pisith Patamasatayasonthi was elected as the TFA president and the following responsibilities were allocated to the executive committee.
The executive committee is to administrate the assocation for a period of 2 years After this term, members of the committee can be re-elected.
The committee must hold a monthly meeting on the second Wednesday of each month and it is the duty of each director to attend this meeting. Topics for discussion will be issued in writing, at least 7 days in advance, by the TFA manage The TFA was set up with the support of the Industrial Service Division, Department of Industrial Promotion Ministry of Industry.
